You have a unique purpose and are here to make life better for the people you serve. It takes money to do that, and there’s plenty of money out there for everyone!

In fact, money wants to find you as much as you want to find more of it! But often, you make it too hard for money to find you. So it doesn’t. And your life and impact stay limited. Let’s address that!

Here are 3 ways you might be hiding from money.

Hiding Strategy #1: You’re hiding yourself. Symptoms include: No picture of you on woman-hiding-from-moneyyour website or Social Media profiles. Either you just leave them blank, OR you post a picture of something other than you. Other people see your website, profiles, and connection requests, and they wonder… Is this even a real person? What are they hiding?

In general, I don’t even accept connection requests from people who don’t post their picture. It’s called “Social” media for a reason, right? It’s for connecting to other people, not pictures of buildings or cats or a shaded head with no face!

Unless you’re selling a purely physical product, people want to know they’re investing with an actual person. I have happened upon service business websites where I can’t find a single detail about the person/people behind the business! Another common symptom of hiding yourself is sponsoring events and then hiding behind your booth (or even disappearing from your booth) during exhibition times.

Money comes to us through people. And people buy from people. If they can’t find you, they can’t and won’t invest with you!

What is one way you’ve being hiding yourself that you can change this week?

Hiding Strategy #2: You won’t reach out to your potential clients. This one looks a lot like “If I build it, they will come.” Look – you have something valuable to share or you wouldn’t have started your business in the first place. But the idea that people will start pouring in to work with you because you’re amazing at the service you provide or have a beautiful business card or a lovely website is one of the major reasons that most people close their business doors in a few years and go get a job!

You do have to market and sell in your business. And, even if you are designed to have a successful online business (most people have no clue about whether they’are or not), anytime you’re in a “need income now” situation, you will actually have to interact with people in order for them to realize you are the perfect solution and hand you some money.

And that is an “outbound” process. You need to be the one who goes to an event or picks up the phone and initiate conversations with your potential clients. I don’t care how many business cards you have handed out – sitting around waiting for the rare incoming call from doing that is putting your financial fate in someone else’s hands – and money will have a really hard time finding you.. In reality, that’s actually called “having a job.” Your employer delivers clients and work to you, you do it, and then your employer pays you.

Sorry, folks – that just doesn’t work when you own your own business!

How can you reach out to potential clients this week?

Hiding Strategy #3: Hiding behind someone else’s business model. This one can be tricky! There are so many great models out there that work well for someone. But I don’t know one business owner who hasn’t tried to take a model that made someone else a millionaire and try it themselves only to find that it doesn’t work for them.

You see this a lot in my industry. It sometimes seems as if all the top coaches are using the same “formula” and model in their business. Many offer similarly formatted programs, use the same technologies, and even have the same exact components in their ezines.

But here’s the truth. Just because something works for them doesn’t mean it will work for you. We are each very unique not only in the gifts we have to offer but also in the way we are designed to most effectively share those gifts with others. Part of you already knows that. What you may not know is what your gifts and design actually are. So your life and business become an endless parade of trying what worked for someone else, and feeling like a failure when it doesn’t work for you.

What is one aspect of your business model that you need to release right now and replace with something that truly works for you?

Will you stop hiding today so that money and the people who are waiting for you can finally find you?
