Have I gotten your attention?  Good! I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did!

By the way, reading this entire article now, instead of thinking “I’ll read this later,” and then never getting around to it, could make you a lot of money!

Okay, on to my story. It wasn’t until my fifth or sixth year in business that I spotted my costly mistake.  And it had to do with the pricing of my services.

I remember deciding to set my initial coaching fees at $250/month when I was in coaching school 8 years ago.  I was already an experienced coach, having been a leadership coach at a Fortune 100 company.  And I remember some of my classmates being surprised that I would only be charging that much.

I was so proud of myself when I left my Corporate coaching job and started my own coaching business  just halfway through my coaching certification program.  I had five coaching clients on day one of my new business!

And I was proud that I continued to get more “yes’s” than “no’s” when I offered to coach people.  In the first few years of my business, my income slowly climbed, and since I thought that was the only way to do it, I was happy with that.

It wasn’t until I started investing in working with incredible business coaches that I doubled my business income for the first time.  And in order for me to do that, I had to first become aware of a sneaky little trick my subconscious was playing that was preventing me from making real money in my business.

I discovered that I had been pricing my services so I would get more “yes’s” than “no’s” in my sales conversations.  I valued those “yes’s” so much that I practically wore them as a badge of honor.

And I realized that my pricing was about me, not the clients I wanted to serve.  I was more comfortable hearing “yes” than “no.”  In fact, I was afraid to get “no’s,” because I would use them against myself and let them determine my level of confidence and self-esteem.

I was holding both my clients and myself back by keeping my pricing low.

The truth is that every time I raise my fees, my clients get even better results.  They are more committed to the process and themselves.  They take the coaching process and their action plans seriously.  And they get big results!

And because they have stood in the truth that they are worth investing in, they are then able to price their services in a way that benefits both their clients and them.

Everyone wins.

Now, that is true service.  That is why you have been called to share your gifts with the world through your business.  So that the people you are here to serve get maximum benefit from working with you, and you are rewarded nicely for delivering on your purpose.

I estimate that taking so long to learn this lesson cost me at least $500K.

YOU have the opportunity to learn this lesson right now.  From my story, so you don’t have to experience it yourself.

What new decision will YOU make TODAY about YOUR pricing?
